PowerTech Water Highlights CapCo™ Products for Removal of Heavy Metals at WEFTEC 2019

Patent-pending Carbon Electrode Technology Provides Significant Environmental and Economic Benefits including 90 Percent Reduction in OpEx

CHICAGO, September 23, 2019 – At WEFTEC 2019 Booth #7739o, PowerTech Water, a developer of cleantech water treatment technologies, will exhibit its revolutionary CapCo™ Capacitive Coagulation modules and systems that remove heavy metals from water.

This patent-pending carbon electrode technology actively attracts, immobilizes and filters metals with over 99% selectivity. CapCo provides a simplified yet powerful solution that provides environmental benefits such as the elimination of toxic sludge, as well as numerous economic benefits. CapCo lowers OpEx by up to 90 percent by shrinking the footprint of the water treatment system, reducing labor requirements, and removing the need for chemicals in the treatment process.

“Events like the Flint, Michigan water crisis have drawn attention to the problem of heavy metals contamination in water, but that contamination can come from myriad sources including industrial wastewater streams. CapCo is reframing how the industrial sector manages wastewater and in particular, the removal of harmful heavy metals from its wastewater streams. We are thrilled by the marketplace’s response to this breakthrough solution,” said Cameron Lippert, Chief Executive Officer of PowerTech Water, which recently announced a $1.5 million Series A round of funding to accelerate the commercialization of CapCo modules and systems.

CapCo systems are being installed in North America by lead-acid battery manufacturers as well as aerospace manufacturers and those in the automotive industry to address their heavy metal effluent problems.

On Tuesday, September 24, Lippert will present PowerTech Water’s CapCo technology as part of the “CROC Tank” hosted by Imagine H2O. The CROC Tank, a Shark Tank-style presentation that highlights innovations coming to the water sector, takes place from 4:00-5:00 pm in the Innovation Theater.
