Eliminate usage of chemistry to reduce environmental risks and scope 3 GHG emissions
ElectraMet takes a comprehensive approach to eliminating chemical waste in industrial processes. Precipitation chemistry for dissolved metals removal is an outdated solution that doses chemistry towards a specific contaminant but generates high amounts of collateral damage. Due to its non-specificity, dissolved metals along with other wastewater components generate excess toxic sludge that requires hauling and placement into a landfill for high fees. ElectraMet is chemical-free to eliminate exposure risks while eliminating sludge’s corresponding scope 3 GHG emissions and hefty fees for internal/external hauling and disposal.
ElectraMet presents a game-changing solution for managing Chromium (Cr VI) and Iron (Fe III) treatment. Instead of chemical reduction using toxic bisulfite chemistry, ElectraMet employs electrocatalytic reduction to eliminate bisulfite and the corresponding issues with over-feeding. The subsequent precipitation chemistry dose is maintained along with sludge production, but customers reduce scope 3 GHG emissions, environmental footprint, and exposure risks to onsite employees.
ElectraMet’s innovative approach enables the isolation of target metals from waste and process solutions to assure specification and compliance. If recoverable and valuable, the metal can be collected as a plated-tube, powder, or concentrated salt. Tubes and powders are >99% pure. This selective metal extraction & recovery extends across various applications, especially focused on copper (Cu) and silver (Ag). Value for recovered metals ranges from 85% – 98% LME to optimize recovered value and offset treatment costs.
ElectraMet offers an innovative and modular solution to address these challenges. Using an electrochemical process, ElectraMet’s automated system selectively targets and removes specific metals and impurities from the leachate. This cutting-edge technology can be integrated seamlessly into existing recycling processes, offering several key advantages:
